    Feb 10, Saturday at 9-11:30am

    VIDEO AUDITIONS ACCEPTED!!! Deadline: Jan 28, 2018 (1 minute monologue and 1 minute song - and further instructions will be given). Please email LyriqueMusicProductions@gmail.com

    Must be at least 16 years old by audition date with the exception of LMPfamily veteran performers who may audition at age 15 or with the director's invite.
    Please prepare a minute monologue and a minute cut of a show tune that would show off your vocal abilities. Please bring your sheet music and a cd accompaniment track of your song for a piano accompanist is not guaranteed on the day and time of your audition. Please note that actors auditioning only for the featured dancer roles must do a monologue, and singing is not required but is a big plus if a triple threat.
    Please bring comfortable dance attire for the dance audition. It is imperative to go through the dance audition with the exception of those auditioning only for the on-stage "CHOIR" who will only sing throughout the show with NO spoken lines, blocking, and dance.


    CHARACTER BREAKDOWN AND IDEAL CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS:

    Claude Frollo
    Archdeacon of Notre Dame Cathedral and the most powerful cleric in Paris, he is the reluctant caretaker of Quasimodo. He will do whatever it takes to rid the city of the gypsy “vermin,” even as he lusts after Esmeralda. Calculating, manipulative, and obsessive.

    Jean Frollo (will also play congregant and multiple roles)
    Claude’s reckless younger brother. With the gypsy Florika, he fathers Quasimodo, who he leaves in his brother’s care. Wild, passionate, and strong-willed.

    Vocal range top: Eb5
    Vocal range bottom: F3

    Florida (will also play congregant and multiple roles)
    A gypsy and Quasimodo’s mother.
    Gender: older teen/ young adult Female
    Vocal range top: F#5

    Father Dupin (will also play congregant and multiple roles)
    A priest of Notre Dame and Claude and Jehan’s guardian.

    Quasimodo
    The deformed bell-ringer of Notre Dame and Claude Frollo’s charge. Lonely and staunchly obedient to Frollo, he possesses a vivid imagination that brings to life the bells and gargoyles of the cathedral. Despite his shyness and uncertainty, he quickly befriends Esmeralda. Big-hearted, and brave when need be.

    Clopin Trouillefou (congregant and multiple roles)
    The clever and charismatic King of the Gypsies. An air of mystery surrounds Clopin, who often leaves the scene in a puff of smoke. As the master of ceremonies for the Feast of Fools, he is witty and playful, but he boasts a darker, serious nature when not performing for the crowd.

    Captain Phoebus de Martin
    Returning to Paris after serving in the war, Phoebus takes up his new position as Captain of the Cathedral Guard. Overconfident yet charming, this handsome, strong soldier makes the ladies swoon, yet his moral compass is also strong, and he openly defies the corrupted Frollo.
    Gender: young adult Male

    Lieutenant Frederic Charles (will also play congregant and multiple roles)
    Lieutenant of the Cathedral Guard and loyal friend to Phoebus.
    Gender: older teen/ adult Male

    Esmeralda
    A beautiful and free-spirited gypsy who possesses the strong sense of justice and morality that Frollo lacks. Compassionate, she frees Quasimodo from the frenzied mob at the Feast of Fools and, against her better judgment, falls for the cocky Phoebus.

    Age: 17 to 25

    King Louis XI (will also play congregant and multiple roles)
    King of France, nicknamed the Prudent.

    Madam (will also play congregant and multiple roles)
    Owner of a brothel and safe haven for gypsies.

    Saint Aphrodisius (will also play congregant and multiple roles)
    A stained-glass image that comes to life.

    16 Congregation/Story Tellers (gyspsies, soldiers, statues, gargoyles citizens of Paris): ALL have solos spoken lines and singing parts - males and females includes some of the "named' roles - 9 males and 7 females

    3 main gargoyes/statues: all have spoken and singing parts – 2 females, 1 male

    5 gypsies dancers: classically trained dancer, singing is a plus (monologue required) - both genders

    4 citizens of Paris dancers: classically trained dancer, singing is a plus (monologue required) - both genders

    24 on-stage “choir” members – singing only “on stage” with highlighted scenes (NO MONOLOGUE AND DANCE AUDITION REQUIRED FOR THE AUDITION)

  • CD player(s) will be available during audition.
